My sister and I were in San Diego over the Mother's Day weekend. We were staying at the La Jolla Beach Travelodge Hotel. After we got checked in we walked down to this wonderful beach. We got there just in time to see an awesome...More

This is a great local beach! The beach has a shallow shoreline and lots of large, natural rocks coming out of the shore. Great quiet beach for surfing or laying out without many tourists. Note: Parking is in a residential area so be courteous and...More

This is the first beach that I went to in San Diego when we moved across the country. I like the large rocks here that you can sit on and look out at the ocean.

The beautiful beach and epic point break are aggressively patrolled by local surf gangs. Whether you're (attempting) to surf or just hang out, the townies here are sure to unroll the unwelcome mat for you. Somebody -- several people, in fact -- needs a civics...More

We were there in mid April and walked there from the Grande Colonial hotel. Not a bed walk (1 1/2 miles) and saw some great houses along the way. The beach is clean; the waves great and there are plenty of rocks to scamper on....More

This amazing little beach was within walking distance of our beach rental. It's very rocky and the waves are rough, so it's not necessarily great for sunbathing or swimming, but it's incredibly beautiful. The beach is small, quiet and unspoiled. It's also a hot spot...More

One of my favorite beaches in all of the world. An iconic surf spot...but only for experts...because its a heavy wave. Mind the tides because at high tide...not much sand. Swimmers chould be careful...the currents are pretty strong.

I used to live a block away from Windansea Beach, and I can vouch for the beautiful sunsets we'd see every night, no matter the season. There's a special vibe at the beach. It's accessible and the surfers are the same ones mentioned by the...More

We lived 3 blocs away and never missed a chance to go the beach. WHether you sit on a bench (premium) or on the rocks, there'sno better show than the waves coming in a lapping over the rugged geography of Windansea beach. Oh,and that susnset.

How is swimming here in mid-June? (I am an experienced swimmer and also know this is not Hawaii and the water will be cool).

It'll be fantastic. We were there over New Year's, & while we didn't have an interest in braving really cold water, there were plenty of surfers and swimmers wearing wetsuits in the surf. June is perfect for most.
