Our tour guide, Ellen was excellent

We will go back since we live in SD. Probably in the Fall when the scaffolding comes down. Great insight as now Louis Kahn, the architect, has an exhibit at the SD museum of art.

Must see for fans of architect Louis Kahn. "River of Life" is spectacular. Docent was very knowledgeable.

No place in San Diego reminds me more of the futuristic distopian movie "A Clockwork Orange". This place is full of brilliant scientists, and it is a world class research institution. Its architecture looks like a place you might find some droogs lurking about

We stopped here because we had heard about the beautiful architecture and we were not disappointed. Unfortunately, many of the buildings were under construction, but it was still beautiful. Would have loved to have more time to take the official tour, but we did not know ahead of time that was an option, so we did not plan accordingly. We... More

Under Construction till Spring 2017. Closed campus, tour guide required. No evening or early morning photos allowed. Totally worth a visit. Check in at Front Parking lot entrance. Noon tours, typically MWF

If you like architecture, you shouldn't miss visiting the Salk Institute for a tour. The tour lasts about an hour and is given by different tour guides during the week. If you get there early, one of the "scientists" will greet you at the welcome center and talk about the research that goes on there. The setting is beautiful. Unfortunately,... More

We had a great time this week during a private tour of the Salk Institute that was super easy to arrange via their website. The docent was super informative.

The Salk Institute is absolutely beautiful and has this very cool science vibe -- you can tell that important research is being done here and it lends an interesting aura to it. The views are fabulous -- it's in a pearl of a spot on the Pacific.
