Nice place for a stroll. Clean and very quiet canals with an interesting set of homes along the canal. Bridges span the canals.

The canals run parallel to the beach and are only a few blocks away. Finding free street parking can be tough, but there are loads of lots where you can park all day for around $10. The canals are beautiful and peaceful, it's a nice break from downtown LA

We had a stroll through the venice canals expecting so much more than what we saw. The water line is really low, there is algae in the water and the houses around the canals were just not in great condition. The attraction is nice to see, but don't expect to be WOW'd by it.

The last remaining Venice Canals are located off 25th Street in Venice Beach. If you didn’t know they were there you would easily miss them. But don’t. Strolling the historic myriad of waterside trails and small bridges is a dreamy way to while away a sunny afternoon. Here you will find relatively newly built design house side by side with... More

It was a cool day and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll down the canals. The houses and courtsyards are so pretty. We could imagine hosting an evening dinner party in the courtyard on one house.. We considered knocking on the door on more than one lovely residence....we thought we could ask if we could be there friends for just a... More

A very nice place to walk around. The area many years ago was much larger. This is all that remains of the canals. It's fun to walk around and look at the lovely homes.

We were just exploring the area when we ran across this hidden gem in venice. Small canals invite for a stroll and make you appreciate this nice community.

You feel like your not in the USA with big streets and cars wherever you go. Its small, really quite, you can only go by feet and get a lot of nice views in pretty nice houses :)

We drove around in our car, on narrow streets, over small bridges, passing beautiful and unique houses. We stopped quite some times to take pictures. Recommended even if you only have 10 minutes and drive through!

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
