I hadn't been to Castle Rock in decades. The trails were well maintained and everything was green after the heavy rainy season. This park is always a great escape from the crowds and traffic in the valley and is only about 20 minutes from Saratoga.

Great park just a 20 minutes outside of los gatos/Saratoga. Take the saratoga gap trail to get sweeping vistas of the santa cruz mountains. Traveling just a few miles is all that is required. The trails are not flat and do have some drop offs....More

Castle Rock state park has 2 easy 2 moderate and 2 strenuous trails. We took the moderate one saratoga gap trail till camping grounds and on the way saw goat rock. It was a good hike for 2-3 hours in total. Parking costs 8 dollars...More
