ARR runs in partnership with AWE (American whitewater expeditions), I believe. 20+ of us (all in mid 30s) ran a day trip down the middle fork of the American River. We were split onto 4 different rafts each with their own guide. The seasonal run-off was great for a fun ride through 18 miles of class III-V rapids. There was... More

We booked an afternoon trip on the Gorge and it was worth every penny. * Price was better than several other companies that I researched. * The booking was smooth - we got confirmation very quickly and detailed directions and instructions. * Location was easy to find, and if you get to the area early, you can even explore the... A group of 7 of us just returned from our first 4 hour whitewater rafting trip down the American River with American River Recreation (run out of American River Resort). It was great! The 7 of us were in one boat; there were 5 boats in our group that afternoon. We saw a lot of other rafting companies out on... More

My daughters girl scout troop choose ARR just by chance and BOY did we pick a winner! Our guide was Grace and she was awesome! She was super friendly! Very knowledgeable and was a great navigator! She had great stories to tell and pointed out interesting points of interests on our 16 mile South fork journey. She made our raft... More

My husband and I with two kids ages 12 and 15 decided to go rafting with this company due to other positive reviews I read. It did not disappoint. We had a great day of fun on the beautiful river. We chose the half day which was enough over the full day. The place had clean bathrooms and a nice... More

We camped Saturday the 25th of July and rafted the Middle Fork Sunday. It was 7 guys plus myself. Everything was brilliant. The camping provided us with great dinner (appetizers, beer, wine, tri tip, fish, chicken, veges, dessert) and breakfast (muffins, toast, juice, coffee, eggs) morning before rafting. Our tour leader was Tom and my raft guide was Colby. These... More

In our group of 4 girls, two had never been rafting but by the end of the day, they were sure they wanted to do it again! We arrived a half hour earlier than our scheduled 8:30 start time for the 4-hour Chili Bar Run. Near the huge parking-lot, we found clean bathroom facilities & their campgrounds. After checking-in, we... More

From Louisiana & didn't know who to choose but decided on American River Rec. We had only been white water rafting once before: Kananaskis River, Alberta, CA. Chose the Chili Bar Run on South American River. It was a morning run and as we drove to campground we passed over the river & it looked low. Was a little nervous... More

For this years summer camping vacation on the way to Yosemite, we stopped by Coloma and went with my family on the full day (Chili-bar/Gorge) South Fork trip July 22. It was nothing but spectacular!! I had rafted with ARR (south/middle fork) in the past as a boy scout and I've had nothing but good memories from that experience. Going... More
