This trail is stunning summer, winter, fall or spring, but for us, it's a must-do stop in the winter. The trail to the lake is not overly long, just under 4 km's (just over 2 miles) to the lake one-way, and 300 m's of elevation...More

Moderate hiking trail to the lake, going around Upper Kananaskis lake and continue to Rawson lake, it's well marked hike. After lake you could go around lake and proceed to more challenging hike to Sarrail Ridge, and as usual, the more difficult hike greater reward...More

We set out to do this hike on a nice day. It clouded over as we approached the lake and seemed to stay in the clouds pretty much the entire time. It is a pretty lake that i am sure is even nicer when the...More

The hike started off easy from the upper kananaskis parking lot, when the trail forks go left and start making your way up the trail. Steady incline through the trees and eventually you make your way to the lake. From there you can walk around...More

Rawson Lake is truly beautiful and worth seeing but there is a steep climb to get there. The lake is reached by hiking up a trail with 1000 feet of vertical climb from the trailhead on Upper Kananaskis Lake. As with most hikes in Alberta...More

Enjoyable hike along Upper Kananaskis Lake, past Sarrail Creek Falls & then up the trail to Rawson Lake. The trail was really muddy in some sections when we went. We left early in the morning & there was already lots of people on the trail....More

From Kananaskis lakes, there are 2 options: to walk a trail around the lake or to take the hike up to Rawson's Lake. Definitely worth it to go. Loved the sunny weather but at Rawson's Lake there was still snow on the grounds.

We had a bit of trouble finding the trail and ended up at upper Kananaskis lake instead so had a bonus 2 km flat walk... So we considered skipping this. I'm so glad we ended up doing it! The incline portion of the trail is...More
