Not the world's largest museum, but very interesting, if only to see what the Gold Rush was all about. Drop in state funding is having an impact, but please support. Good value for the $4 entry to while away an hour

Fun little stop to see some beautiful rocks from around the world. Great variety and set up. Friendly ranger staff gave us all the info we could ask for.

This a fun place to visit and a great value too. The reproduction of an old mine is fun to wander through. The collection of rocks and minerals is excellent.

If you are in the area and have any interest in minerals or want to walk through a short mine tunnel, stop by this museum. It’s fairly small but there are a lot of mineral samples.

Only like 3 bucks to go in. Located at the Mariposa Fairgrounds, and you can also camp there for only 20 bucks a night with hot showers if cant get into Yosemite with your camper.

I liked this museum, but i am a rock nerd. The rest of my family was bored. Lots of cool rocks, gems ,and a huge gold nugget. I took about an hour to see and read everything. Most people will be much less.

Our Christmas trip started in Mariposa at the museum. It was pouring rain on 12/15 but we found the museum and headed inside to a welcoming employee. Our son filled out the questionnaire and was sworn in as a California State Park Junior Ranger. He...More

This museum has a lot of lovely specimens of California minerals, including not only the expected gold (Mariposa is on the southern border of California’s “Gold Country”) but malachite, azurite, fluorescent minerals, and much more. Some of the gold pieces are valuable enough to lock...More
