Bought this as a Groupon and my husband and I had the most amazing time at our Beginning Falconry Lesson. We got to meet the birds, learn about the history of Falconry and the training process, and then we got to handle a beautiful Harris Hawk and have him land on our gloves! The instructors were personable, funny, and clearly... More

My husband and I treated ourselves to the Basic Falconry Lesson for our 34th anniversary. The staff at West Coast Falconry were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their sport and the raptors in their care. They introduced us to all their birds and answered all our questions. There was a very informative overview and history of the sport of falconry... More

I purchased the visit through Groupon and believe me, it was worth every penny. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to West Coast Falconry. Not only did we learn a lot about raptors, we upgraded to the Hawk Walk and had a lot of extra time with a hawk named Mariposa.

Although we each individually handled the birds (class size of about 8), the time spent on education and sharing the raptor/falcon characteristics was fascinating and appreciated. I would recommend this to everyone interested in raptors, unique experiences, or photography. What an opportunity for a photo group! And the numerous types of raptors on site extends the learning opportunity even more... More

This was one of the most memorable days of my life. I have always loved animals and birds in particular. Raptors have always been a particular interest, so this was an incredible opportunity to meet and interact with these magnificent creatures. The staff is so warm and knowledgeable they make it comfortable and informative at the same time. The birds... More

This educational falconry facility sits amidst California oaks and in the Sierra Nevada foothills, all perfect habitat for birds of prey - owls, hawks and falcons. Its excellent staff and trainers offer photo classes, and walks with each kind of bird as well as walks demonstrating the birds incredible hunting ability. The 1 1/2 hour hawk walk goes by too... This was the coolest animal experience I have ever had! At $140/per person for 1.5 hours it was worth every penny!!! Learned so much about falconry and the girls made sure we all took turns doing exercises with the hawk. Got to watch Mariposa the hawk fly off my arm and fo into a tree, dive down and land on... For anyone looking for a "once in a lifetime" experience, West Coast Falconry will provide it. After an informative session on history and training methods, our group flew our Harris hawk, Cowboy, back and forth to each other at least 3 x and had the opportunity to throw meat treats high in the air and watch aerial acrobatics. It was... More

It was great to be out in the countryside where hawks live. It is a wonderful way to get up close and personal with birds of prey and to learn more about them.
