Was met at the door by a visitor volunteer hoist that took us on a tour. A full model of the town in its glory days and wonderful picture display on how they loaded lumber, freight and passengers off boats anchored offshore. Wonderful experience by some very friendly and dedicated residents of Mendocino. Thank You for your time!

When you are in Mendocino this is a must visit if you are interested in learning more about the fascinating history of the town and region. The museum itself is great but if you can take advantage of a docent led tour walking tour of the town to see its history up close. We used to watch Angela Lansbury in... More

We visited Kelly House and also took a tour that left from Kelly House. Our tour guide was excellent and we learned a lot about the history of Mendocino including the prominent families, the logging industry, historical buildings, the church, how the road used to go, and the natives and much more. The tour took a little over 2 hours... More

Well worth $10.00 - combines history with local geography, industry, architecture (pardon my spelling), and nature. One and a half to two hours. Meet on Albion St. - not at the Mason's Lodge (which is pictured here on the listing, and now houses a bank). Instead meet at the Kelley House Museum on Albion St.

Really interesting museum in the house of one of Mendocino's founding families. Lots of great old photos and special exhibits.

We happened to read about the guided tour of the town that runs every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 am for $10/person. It was a very interesting tour and really makes you appreciate the town and its history. Afterwards, walking around, you feel like you are visiting a town from a book where you know the stories of all the... More

There are some interesting displays about the logging industry, and miniature version of the village.

The museum itself is quite interesting, if you're passing by with half an hour to spare. But the walking tour round the town, which runs at 11am every Saturday and Sunday, was one of the highlights of our visit. And, at just $10 a head, it was the best value attraction we encountered in California. http://www.kelleyhousemuseum.org/historic-walking-tours/

My children and I spent a quiet afternoon at Kelly House. We loved the displays and old pictures. Volunteers were informed and offered answers to our questions.

A fascinating little museum, but the self-guided audio tour of Mendocino should be your focus. Interesting, and can be done in an hour.
