Lots of shops to dip in. Tons of restaurants offering free tastes of their clam chowder, pick one and have a quick lunch. Plenty of boats and seal lions to look at.

A few little gift shops with Monterey memorabilia and some restaurants. Good if you want a key chain or a t-shirt, but don't expect anything like hand made gifts. You get attacked by servers urging you to try their clam chowder. It's crowded on weekends...More

Go along and have some great seafood. Parking will cost you a dollar every 30 minutes but is safe and secure. Great food in a great setting

We had a terrific visit to the wharf with my three teenage sons. Lots of interesting restaurants and of course the required gift shops. We later visited the wharf in San Francisco and Santa Monica and the Monterey wharf was by far my kids' favorites...More

The last time that we visited Monetary Bay was about 40 years ago. Thankfully, Old Fisherman's Wharf really hasn't changed in all that time. There are still a number of restaurants - some good, some not so much, and clam chowder to be had for...More

A visit to Monterey isn't complete without taking time to stroll Old Fisherman's Wharf. Enjoy the sight of dozens of boats and yachts, old and new, moored at the marina; listen to the orchestra of wind through the lines and clanking and pinging and gonging...More

We had an hour or so to kill and this fit the bill perfectly. Saw a catch being unloaded which was interesting for us as was the large cats of squid. The fish market was a treat to check out. Heard and saw the seals...More

I recently became wheel-chair bound. Will I be able to get around the area, and into most restaurants and shops? Is the wharf boards or concrete? Thanks !

This is a dense area. In high season (roughly May through October) it's over-run with tourists and can be difficult to navigate on foot. I imagine a wheelchair adds an extra layer of difficulty with that. The boardwalk is... More

They open around 9 or ten, but not really sure our first stop was the aquarium, that morning, breakfast shops open early, but once open lots to see and buy.
