A look back into the mining history. The historical town is well documented and can be self toured easily. The pit area trails are not as maintained as one would expect. We tried the loop trail and it just disappeared into brush. No signage or...More

So impressed by the scope of the attempt to extract gold Fr the earth. We had no idea that certain groups went to great extremes to pull gold from the earth.

Well not a mine, exactly, but the remains of a hydraulic diggings from the late 1800's. Hydraulic mining was later outlawed and the action was the country's first environmental law. Here's your chance to learn about California's rich god mining history.
