The Wedge is at the opening of Newport Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. It's a great place to watch surfers and incoming boats. It's my favorite Zen place to just sit to watch and listen to the waves. I also like to climb out on the rocks to the point.

Located on the Balboa Peninsula near the Newport Harbor entrance. A large shore break has been a sight to see when waves get big. Also just a great wide beach to enjoy sunny days

It's January, beautiful calm day. It was a nice day just to get outside. Walked around and watched the boat come in and out.

Came here many times over the years. Very nice beach in the Orange County area. About a 45 minute drive from Anaheim resort area. Beautiful golden sand beach. Nice place to bring the family. Busy on weekends. Nice for a stroll along the beach. Long beach front and decent walking distance toward the pier.

Great place to visit with wonderful views of the bay and the ocean. If a clear day, you can easily see Catalina Island. No bathrooms and parking can be a problem to find a space if the waves are high or if a week end in the summer. No parking lots, no public transportation. No food stands or places to... More

This is the best place to watch local surfers, the waves get pretty huge at times and the water can be dangerous if you aren't experienced.

I can see how this would be an amazing place to watch surfers when conditions are right, but they weren't on the nice day we visited.

Located all the way at the end of the Balboa Peninsula. There is a rock jetty built to contain the waves and when the surf comes in just right, the waves bounce back against each other causing a wedge. The resulting wedge can reach heights of thirty feet. Fun to watch the pros surf the waves; not a place to... More

not much to say about the Wedge. if you aren't experienced, you probably shouldn't go. got the worst wipe out of my life when the bottom dropped out and I found myself riding the bottom with my chest. great bodysurfing. powerful, beautiful, awesome.

We stopped by to see the amazing waves and all the crazy people body surfing the waves. This is actually a beautiful spot on the Balboa peninsula. This little area feels like you stepped into a "Trumanville" area. There were plenty of people out enjoying the waves and just as many people just sitting and watching. Read up about it... More
