It's the Wandering Yank here. I love airplane museums, and I was last here 10 years ago at their old location. The new building is much bigger and more spacious. It's a very large and spacious room. There are a number of small aircraft and missiles hanging from the ceiling. A beautifully restored F-86 Sabre was the highlight for me.... More

This museum has many varied exhibits and video displays with aircraft seating in front of them. I found this to be rare. Outside has many of my favorite planes, mainly the A-10 Thunderbolt. You can go inside several aircraft even a helicopter!

My daughter had a conference in McClellan and I had the day to explore. I decided to walk to the museum and check it out. Outside is an amazing playground area that small children would love. It had so many structures and was so clean and attractive, i wished I had my little granddaughter with me. Inside a school group... More

The admission was inexpensive, you could climb in to about 4 of the planes inside the museum, there were many that were not touch. They did have some interesting information on the space program and the missions to mars, including some rockets and many planes. There were many planes outside of the museum, but it was raining and we didn't... More

The museum is at the former Mcclellan air base, which now hosts a unit of the US Coast Guard. This reflected in the displayed aircraft with a number of USCG. The oldest aircraft is a C-47 transport plane. Lots of Cold War fighter aircraft are on display outdoors. Inside aviation paraphernalia and explanations on many aviation are explained. Volunteers are... More

We went with our son, daughter-in-law, grandson (6), and granddaughter (3). They had a good time. There were enough things to see and do even for the 3 year old. Of course, they loved the aircraft and being able to go into some of them. The docents were always nearby to give us facts, figures, and history. I cannot compliment... More

My daughter and I visit here now and then and excellent place to visit. The former pilots take time to explain how it works and very helpful.

Toured this one afternoon while visiting Sacramento. Wasn't overly expensive admission. Lots of USAF planes to look at outside as well as a Fed Ex plane, Coast Guard, Blue Angels, etc. You could only go inside the Fed Ex plane and one of the Coast Guard helicopters. Very fun and interesting. Inside had lots of engines from different planes, films... More

A decent sized, eclectic, collection of aircraft in assorted conditions most having links to the Vietnam/Cold war era, the outdoor exhibits include an A-10 that I had the pleasure of working on in the mid-80s. My kids loved it and the docents are very knowledgeable about the aircraft. Some are recently restored, others are in need of restoration but all... More

My friend from Nevada wanted to visit the museum. There were few people when we arrived so my friend connected with a volunteer guide who was extremely knowledgeable and had many personal anecdotes to share. The two men bonded after a few minutes and spent lots of time discussing each aircraft, even getting into a couple. There were Russian planes,... More
