There are many markets and shops-- including restaurants. I really wanted to go to the museum/cultural center, but it was closed, both on Sunday afternoon and on Monday. The restaurants were numerous, and most were so authentic as to barely offer menus in English. I...More

Boy this Chinatown is big. Chinatown in San Francisco seems relegated to Grant Street, but Oakland's covered at least 3 streets for 5or 6 blocks. It also seemed more authentic than any Chinatown I have seen. Shops selling dried herbs, fruits and everything that might...More

Lots of restaurants and stores, Less of a tourist trap than S.F.Chinatown, Not worth going out of your way to see unless you are in Oakland anyway and need a place to eat. Safe in the daytime, near the Civic Center and Business district. Paid...More

We loved the Chinatown! Some great (and cheap) restaurants, plus art and clothing stores, grocery stores, you name it.

If you've been to Chinatown in New York, San Francisco or any other major city you can certainly pass on this one. It has the usual restaurants and store but is not worth a special trip.

This is not really a tourist attraction, but it is nice if you are passing by to visit. It has a lot of bakeries, restaurants, and markets.

There are no touristy gift shops or stands here. Just lots of restaurants, bakeries, food stalls and markets. Prices of items are reasonable. Wish more people would visit, just to keep this Chinatown alive.
