I have had the opportunity to visit all 21 California missions and still enjoy visiting San Luis Rey. I have visited with my family several times and have been to the mission with my daughter's 4th grade class field trips when they studied California history....More

I highly recommend a visit on the tour option. There is so much history; without the tour with the historian, you would miss the knowledge behind the mission.

This a beautifully restored mission along the California Mission trail. You can take a guided tour or take a self guided tour through the museum and grounds.

We had family in town and took them to see the Mission, which was a peaceful little gem! It was enough to see but not too much, has a beautiful courtyard and gardens, and is easy to get to. Highly recommend!
