Oroville Dam is a tourist attraction, but not so much now that construction equipment for the spillway repairs has taken over the place. Access roads to the dam area are blocked off far away from the structure. You can still access the lake, of course,...More

I lived above the Middle Fork of Lake Oroville until I graduated high school. Lake Oroville offers so many different activities. That included fishing, swimming, houseboat rentals, hiking trails, horse trails and many other sports activities. We are so fortunate to have this beautiful setting...More

Since the spillway breach flooded our only park and access to the Lake is limited, we don't feel like it serves our needs. The State of California and the DWR are responsible for the lack of recreation areas.

I wonder how long before they open it up again, with the spillway repairs going on the public is prohibited entry. It's a nice view of the lake, and worth going to see, when you can.

It's far enough away you couldn't hear anything from the spillway work, even the lights are quite a ways away from Bidwell Canyon campgrounds. You should sleep fine, the work is a long ways away, miles away.
