Go early morning before it gets too hot and you'll have a better chance of the animals being active. It's a fairly average zoo with one exception - the cheetahs. We got to see 3 of them lounging around and loved them. Other than that, if you've seen one zoo....well, you know the rest.

The living desert is different from any other zoo I have ever been too. It is not as large as other zoos but you really get to see the animals up close in their natural habitat. The mountains in the back ground are breathtaking. So many of the animals are out and about and easy to see which is great.... More

Expecting a basic garden and a few animals we were very surprised to have a terrific day. There is a shuttle service, which I would recommend, as it is on and off as many times as you like. Almost all plantings have labels. There is something for all ages. Discovery Center, oh and don't miss the ice cream and churro... More

Plan to spend several hours at this well operated zoo in the desert. On the day we chose to visit there was a musical concert included in the price, a band playing blue grass and old country music. Then for a few dollars more one can ride on a shuttle that visits all the main viewing spots in the zoo.... More

We have gone to have a dozen zoos and this is the best one. The animals have lots of room and the people that take care of them really are pleasant to talk with. Well worth the money and isn't a hard place to walk. There are some trails that go up to 3 miles but totally optional.

My wife and I decided to try out "another" zoo and stopped here. This place is very cool. We were able to get up close and personal with giraffes. There was one giraffe close to 19 feet tall - a huge animal. We fed a few giraffes too!. The Living Zoo is well laid out. Camel rides are available. We... More

Well worth a visit, with its overview of desert life. The train display is world class - do NOT miss this part of the adventure!

We enjoyed our walk through the desert zoo with our three year-old and infant (in a stroller). We had never visited the California desert and this provided a nice introduction to the plants/animals found within. The park staff were very pleasant/helpful. Our three year-old was nearly bored when we found a lovely carousel in the middle of the park. She... More

A very nice walk through cacti, palm trees and various animals. You can get 1/2 price tickets through Costco online. They are e tickets. Would recommend minimum two hours there

We loved this desert zoo. There were many different activities. My grandkids would love the trains, especially the Thomas trains!! My favorite was the butterfly exhibit, they were amazing! The camel rides looks like fun and the giraffes were up close and you could feed them. The cheetahs were fed meatballs at 11:15 and you could watch them do some... More
