As a 20+ year resident of Palm Springs you’d think I had been up the tram many times….I did go up once when the old red and blue rectangular tram-cars were in use….but I suffer from acrophobia and vertigo, so this recent trip up in daylight was quite rough for me- going down in the dark was very easy however... Spectacular journey though you have to be pressed at the window, anything less and it is impossible to see the views

On our way to Joshua Tree National Park from San Diego, we drove through Palm Springs and made sure to visit on the way back. We looked for some activities to try in Palm Springs and decided to take the Tramway to Mount San Jacinto State Park. The ride on the tram to the peak was breathtaking. You have plenty... More

We lived in NM and enjoyed the Tram ride up the Sandia Mt. many times . The Tram ride in Palm Springs was equally breathtaking - I loved the way the Tram rotated for it provided many different views of the beautiful scenery.

This was not cheap by any measure, but worth every penny. What a gorgeous ride and the vast amounts of information and hiking options at the top were wonderful. We did the longer hike that took you to 5 different overlooks. Gorgeous spot.

We rode the tram the Monday after Thanksgiving and did not have to wait long. It was amazingly clear and beautiful and so much fun! There was snow and 50 mile per hour winds at the top but we were prepared for cold weather and hike a bit and really enjoyed the views! Truly an awesome experience, not to be... More

We went up the tram in July, when temps in Palm Springs were near 115 degrees F. Up on San Jacinto the temps were a balmy 68. The restaurant is in two parts, and sit-down place with so-so food (it's not bad, just overpriced), and they have a fast food area as well. the views from the terrace are awesome... More

If you're unlucky, you park far down the hill and then you know that the queues are long.A pitifully cafe and an obligatory souvenir shop will entertain you while waiting for your tram ride. But the trip up over the barren mountains and a breathtaking view of the valley makes it all worth its price.
