The tramway ride to 8,000 feet never ceases to amaze. This is a must-do attraction when visiting Palm Springs--summer or winter. When we recently visited, it was about 120 degrees in the valley and 75 at the top. One caution, though. One of our party...More

I thought this was another ordinary tram I was going to take but this place is legit. I couldn't believe how steep the tram ride was. It was a great experience and everyone must do this.

The aerial tramway leaves from near Palm Springs and rises very steeply past rocky outcrops until it reaches 8500 feet on the often snow-covered forested upper slopes of Mount San Jacinto. Excellent views are gained of the desert and town far below. Well worth the...More

I'm glad we did this tour. Very much scared of heights but the views were breathtaking. The ride up was amazing. I did about half of the hike and enjoyed it. Being obese made me feel nervous but in the end I took my time...More

Awesome views at the top along with a good dinner at the cafe makes the ride and dine package the best deal. The baby back ribs were surprisingly delicious. Although the draft beer selection was good at the cocktail lounge they were pricey at $10...More

Well worth a trip up into the woods at the top. You really get some stunning views of Palm Springs and the surrounding desert and mountains...and in the height of summer it's about 20 degrees cooler up there so you can get some respite from...More

Not a cheap option if you have a large party, but worth it. My family partook in the "Ride & Dine" option. Cafeteria style dining but it was very good. The are breathtaking.

Spectacular views from the tram and a wonderful forested mountaintop park with marked trails. The tram car revolves 360° so you can enjoy all perspectives of the valley and mountainsides from any position along side the windows. If planning to walk about or do any...More

I really enjoyed my trip on the Tramway. Primarily because it was 118 degrees at the bottom and 74 degrees at the top! Ha! But really...it offers breathtaking views of the Coachella Valley and great hiking areas...in relative comfort of decent temperatures. The trip takes...More

The top of the mountain is 30 degrees cooler than the bottom. The views are awsome and easy and difficult hiking trails. You will love it.

There really is no "best" time. It all depends if you want to hike, see the daytime view, see the nighttime view, have lunch, have dinner, etc. Last tram goes up at 8:00 p.m. and last tram goes down at 9:45 p.m. Thank you.
I'm going tomorrow on 4/3/17, is there going to be snow and should I wear snow boots for the cold or normal hiking shoes?
