You can hike on the levees from Byxbee Park to Mountain View's Shoreline Park - it's about 2 miles to the pump house (which is the closest side of the Mountain View section to Byxbee) or continue past the pump house to Shoreline Lake (a total of perhaps 3.0 miles). There are lots of Canada geese out in the Baylands... More

This was our very first evening in California experience. Excellent. Go with a local if at all possible as there is plenty of local history to learn about. The city is doing a great job of making a park out of dump lands, salt marshes, inland waterway. Water fowl present and thriving.

Best part about Byxbee is you can bring your dog friend on a leash. It is a great place for long, meandering walks and birdwatching, with some outdoor art installations that make you go "hmm...".

You can see for miles and if you are paying attention, see myriad birds flying overhead or feeding in the waters. A huge group of... More

I like running here. It's flat, you're running along a levee, you can see for miles, and you can just keep running. The only problem is there isn't much of a loop - you just out and back, even if you run all the way down to San Jose. No real facilities, although two amusing outside art installations.
