The title says it all. There are no shops or points of interest. A couple of food trucks. It is a good spot to watch the waves crash on the beach below. The Pismo Beach sign is cool to look at and to take a selfie in front of. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance. The shops are all super touristy and not very interesting

We visited on a cold and rainy day and loved it. The pier wasn’t crowded and it was lovely. The kids loved the slides into the sand and all the stairs. I wish they had more shops, but all the food options were great. Definitely make sure to go to the promenade when you’re in Pismo!

An enjoyable walk along the beach about a mile in length. Several places to access the sand and join the others on the beach.

Due to Covid where so much is shutdown, it's quite busy on weekends. People flock here. It's kids and dog friendly (leashed, and pickup after them), all ages.
Beach is huge and wide I. Both directions. The pier is one of the biggest. A large boardwalk, plenty of seats along both. One main waterfront restaurant, another smaller coffee/wine/beer/snacks/some food on the boardwalk. Pier has Silver Stream "food truck" (not!) full service food and drinks. Another SilverStream on the pier with bottled water and soft drinks, snacks, suntan lotion, fishing stuff, etc. Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and the whole area. We walk this every single day at least twice. We've eaten more than once at each of the noted and only beachfront eateries. The coffee shop one, it's got gas fireplaces which has been wonderful. We stayed here since Feb1 and leaving Apr 30, and we will be back. Plenty of eateries of all kinds just off the waterfront up and down tbe streets. Bathrooms plenty on the boardwalk area and they're kept pretty clean and stocked, though soap is absent in most. I'm impressed with how clean the whole area is, their sanitation folks are working hard. It's gets really busy here with traffic on the weekends if you're driving, get here early for parking, most is pay parking but you can find street parking and walk a block or two also, especially weekdays. Sun brings out more people.

They ruined the whole area. Flying bras. Dinosaur eggs. Ridiculous. And a giant sign...duh. I grew up there and you ruined the whole parking lot.

The crowds were alive and well but many were wearing masks and were respectful of distancing. It was so great to be outside and waling around.

We planed this weekend get way and left a country in higher color code for one in the lowest. Well the Pismo Beach promenade area was jammed packed with people which is understandable with all indoor activities closed. Most had masks on but it was not really enjoyable.

What’s not too love about Pismo Beach. Sand, surf and sun all wrapped up with lots of shops and the smell of good food.

Such experiences are somewhat 50-50 these days. On the one hand, we were glad that we were afforded the opportunity to walk the Pismo Promenade. Nearly everyone was abiding Covid protocols with mask wearing (by most) outside. The beach area below seemed to be partitioned off with numerous pylons, but exactly where one was to walk or not in relation to the pylons was not exactly clear. Plus, this made less space available so whoever did make it down to the beach was seemingly constrained in smaller spaces than would have been the case without the pylon arrangements.
The pier itself adjacent to the area is currently closed. At least the businesses seemed to be doing well during our Covid summer visit. One of the busiest places we've seen in months.
