This is a great little stop for kids to walk down a dark and wet mine shaft on a self guided tour that is about 100 yards long while listening to a recorded voice on a hand held digital device. Good history lesson and kids...More

My friend and I stopped here on a quick getaway. We really enjoyed the narrated self guided mine tour and the stamp mill. But the highlight was the working blacksmith. A group of grade school kids were fascinated. Great way to learn history!

A nice setting and a fine example of a gold mine dug into a rocky mountain. Their museum is a nice too. Worth at least one visit.

I love to bring visiting friends and family here as it is a nice journey into local gold mining history. The kids also enjoy panning for gold and shopping at the reasonably priced gift shop.

lovely way to spend a couple of hours or more touring the area and visiting the stamp mill...worth the visit. I think they may have some hiking trails nearby as well.

Very nicely designed location with excellent interpretive displays, actual stamp mill and occasional mine tours. It feels like you are in the forest, but you are only yards from the highway and Old Placerville.
