Again, the key is to not visit these great properties on a Fri/Sat/Sun when they're really busy...well, you might not have much of a choice, but this place makes some stupendous and unusual wines. The proprietors age their wines a good bit longer than other properties, so I was tasting a 2005 in 2016. Great whites and reds. Very friendly... More

We stopped by and tried the wine for the first time. They were a bit pricey for the region, but the wined were very good.

It's the Wandering Yank here. Mrs. Yank and I were in the Amador wine country 2 weekends ago for the annual Crush event, where we bought a ticket that gave us unlimited tasting and food. We had a great time, visiting 11 wineries over 2 days, and we look forward to returning soon. Terre Rouge (formerly Karly I believe, one... More

If you look at whose wines in Amador County consistently are the highest rated by Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, this is the place. Tasting room is small but service is excellent and very knowledgable.

If you like zins, this is a place not to miss. Their wines are across the board very good. Tasting room staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

This winery was completely unknown to me and recommended by the proprietors of the Hanford House. The Reserve Zinfandel was particularly wonderful -- we bought a case -- but we also bought a Pinot Noir and a great summery Chardonnay. We plan to return during the Crush in October.

DTR and Easton make some of the soundest wines we've tried in the foothills. What do I mean by that? Well, you won't see too many vintages being poured from 2012 and 2013 here. They'll have Syrahs and Zins from 2007. And the reason for that is the wine maker creates wines that have staying power. These wines aren't ready... More

Upon recommendation from locals, we decided to make Terre Rouge a stop on our Big Crush weekend tour. The grounds are beautiful and there are plenty of picnic tables underneath the trees to sit and have lunch with a bottle of wine. The production of the wine can also be viewed as the vats, barrels, etc are within plain view.... More

We attended an event with food and live music. The wine served was top-notch (hence the 4 stars) but the event catered more to an older crowd. The food was exotic and not to our taste and the band played jazz. It seemed like a fun event, just not our pace.
