Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made. The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards. Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Our wine tasting visit at Frog's Leap started with a very comfortable seating area on the huge back porch overlooking the gardens. This is a very popular and crowded winery and a reservation is highly recommended. We tasted five of the current production wines and,...More

Not my favorite winery, but worth a visit. We did the wine tastings on their large porch which was nice. Wine tastings are subjective and I thought the wine was basically average for my taste as was the person serving us (not too much info)....More

This is your picture perfect winery. Great house with tables on the porch for tastings. Stroll or sit outside in comfy chairs while sipping wines. Just relax and enjoy the scenery!

Frog's leap is another of our favorite wineries to visit. We also love the wine and so a few years ago we joined their wine club. Definitely recommend a visit.

John Williams does it right. Some of the best wines anywhere. Great facility that you basically get the run of. And you will absolutely not find a better group of people than the friendly staff there. Do not miss them if you are ever in...More

I love visiting the Frog's Leap - so much so that I joined their wine membership! It's great to enjoy their wine sitting outside their porch area or take a stroll in the back. It was a little cold when we visited in April, but...More

The grounds are gorgeous with a big farmhouse with rustic glam decor. The living room had a grand fireplace. We were seated out on the porch with views of the vineyard and garden. Frog's Leap's vines are dry farmed and organic, which is very impressive....More
