Old Sacramento has a lot to see in a small geographical area. Museums, shops, and places to eat and drink.

I love old town, you can feel the history. Great shops, restaurants and museums. Train ride and river boat rides available. Going back in May to do the underground tour which I didn't know existed. Good fun for everyone.

Block and blocks of historical places and shops. Railroad ties for sidewalks. Very interesting place.

Evangeline's is a terrific store with a huge off-beat selection of everything you can imagine. Fat City is an excellent value for dinner. Don't go to any of the restaurants there for lunch. We tried O'Mally's, other people tried Joe's Crab Shack, and each time it took over an hour to be served. You can do the whole area in... More

I enjoyed walking around the area. Have eaten there but in general I prefer to eat in an other area. You can get a good sense of the early architecture and remember to be on the look out that it is built on the lower old town. It was raised because of all the flooding that use to occur. Check... The Old Town was a fun area to walk around and explore. The Old Town is made up of a couple of blocks of old buildings with wooden sidewalks. There are street performers throughout the area and a variety of unique shops and restaurants. Some of the stores are tourist traps and some sell interesting and unique items, but overall,... More

This place is just a lot of fun. There is ample parking on the steeets(2 hour max meters) and in the parking structure($1.50 per half hour) by the Tower Bridge side. The candy store a block from the parking structure is a must stop. Free samples and all the old time favorites are there plus every flavor of salt water... More

The historic buildings are still in place along the beautiful Sacramento River. It's fun to wander through the shops with a 'must see' railroad museum to top it off. You can even take a ride on an authentic steam engine. One of the candy stores offers free candy while you browse. Evangaline's is 3 stores of costumes and unusual gift items.... More

So much to do: Train Museum, candy shops, charming and unique restaurants, riverside benches with a view. You name it, you can probably find it here. ENJOY!

We walked around 2 hours with the kids, checking out the steamboat, trains, shops and old buildings. The kids favorite was the hardware store in the state historic park part, where they could try out the old toys. The other favorite was the street artist with the puppets.
