I LOVE the American River Bicycle Trail! Stretching 32 miles (64 round trip), there are only a couple of places where cyclists might encounter traffic entering the area, so riding feels so much safer and saner than a city street. Hiking trails abound, meandering along...More

This is one of the best flat rides I've ever ridden. Only minimal contact with cars and has always been safe from Cal Expo eastward. Combined with the State's trail around Lake Natoma it's a great weekend ride if you're not looking for big hills.

This is an awesome bike trail extending for miles along the river. Beautiful views near Folsom & Lake Natoma. You can ride all the way from Folsom to Old Sacramento and beyond.

Don't hangout here on the second part of the evening. Unless you can take 3 or 4 people down by yourself. Homeless people will want to jump you.

This is a long and scenic path. Last time I went, I took my two dogs who loved it. It has great trails for both bike and foot traffic. I had not been in some time although I am local in Sacramento, but I will...More

Running through the heart of metro and suburban Sacramento, on this trail you will be in a different world, along the American River with the sounds of water, wind in the trees, and birds instead of the typical sounds of traffic and urban life. If...More

The American River Bicycle Trail is among the longest and largest trails in the country. This path offers rides on mostly flat ground through parks and city covering about 25 miles distance. The trail is well maintained thanks to government funding and user help. If...More

The American River Parkway Bike Trail is a well maintained asphalt trail that begins just north of Old Sacramento & ends at Folsom. It is a beautiful ride but caution should be taken on parts of it. The area around Old Sacramento & the area...More

Tried walking a portion of this bike trail recently and was appalled by the homeless camps, garbage and litter, and general disrepair of the area. This bike trail was built on the taxes of working people in Sacramento, and the way it looks now is...More

I usually take this trip starting in Folsom, the east end of the trail. This way I can turn around when the Homeless element begins to show up closer to Sac city. I heard a rumor of a rider who was accosted and had bike...More

Since the trail runs from Folsom to Sacramento, I believe it is still the same trail.
