This fine little museum honors the writer Robert Louis Stevenson who honeymooned in the area in 1880. It contains many personal items of the author, as well as works of art, letters written in his own hand, and photographs. Highly recommended for fans of RLS.

An interesting story.

The hours are a bit odd due to staffing. An interesting connection to Napa Valley. The artifacts paint a picture of this author's life

It is remarkable that St Helena has such a large collection of Robert Louis Stevenson items. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about this author's life. Our host for a tour of the museum items was extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend as much time with us as we wanted. We are so glad we took time out from winery visits,... More

This is a charming and comprehensive collection of Stevenson memorabilia, adjacent to a library. The staff person took the time to discuss Stevenson's life without hurrying us, even though we arrived after closing time.

A most interesting insight to Robert Louis Stevenson. The director of the museum is so knowledgeable and interesting and is a must to talk to. This visit and talk with the director on Stevenson's life was the highlight of my day. Many thanks well worth the visit

For location and value, the Premier Inn (Borough Market) is a good choice. It's right on the Thames, about a 7 minute walk to the Globe in one direction and similar to the Tube in the other direction. Across the river is the Tower of London and about a half hour walk along the Thames is the Houses of Parliament.... More

I had visited Braemar, Scotland, where Stevenson stayed and wrote for a time. When I saw this museum in nearby St. Helena, I knew I wanted to go. I was not disappointed. The museum employee was knowledgeable and enthusiastic for the subject, and I learned a lot about the author and his life. I highly recommend this if you, too,... More

On another visit to Napa we were challenged to find new and interesting things to do that does not involve wine tasting. Passing through downtown St. Helena we spotted a directional sign leading us to this museum adjacent to the library. The room is filled with memorabilia of the brief life of this prolific writer and traveller. The museum is... More

We visited the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum. Robert Louis Stevenson. He was a Scottish novelist, poet, essay and travel writer. He wrote such books as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and many others. The museum is by the St. Helena public library. The museum is the largest collection of Robert Lous Stevenson artifacts in the world. The exhibits cover his life as... More

Compact and interesting, this little museum is next to the town library. Stevenson had a short but eventful life. Photos and mementos as well as a great cross section of his writing. If you're lucky, Marissa will be at the desk. She really knows her stuff!
