Great place to visit if you are a reader of the famous author. The Salinas-Watsonville-Castroville-Monterey farming and fishing areas are well represented with cameos and vignettes in the displays and memorabilia, and the agricultural communities well-honored, including Latino, in the short film. I was not...More

You don't need to love Steinbeck or his work as much as I do to really enjoy and appreciate this lovely little museum. If you are visiting Carmel or Monterey it is only a short drive through the wide farm fields to Salinas. In his...More

Gem of a place. Most people read Steinbeck in high school, or perhaps tried to @void reading any book. The center brings it all to life. Ties it all to Salinas and Monterey Bay. Worth a special trip.

I took my grandson 16 yrs old. He was impressed how that era was presented, and how much he learned just after 2 hours in the museum. I am sure it must be seen.

I don't believe so. You could call and find out. It is self guided and there are many movie clips so I don't think it would be possible. It's not large enough for a docent tour. Read all of your Steinbeck books before you go!
