This is a place of immense interest of old San Jose items. Lots of historical items are there. Plus the docents are very informative.

We enjoyed our visit very much. We got to chat to a volunteer in the street car and machinery space, got a demonstration of old style printing and visited a number of interesting old houses. Recommended for any one interested in history or for showing the kids the way things used to be. The volunteers all gave us a warm... More

This outdoor/indoor museum is in the middle of the petting zoo and Japanese friendship gardens. So you can spend the day with animals, history, and culture without have to leave the park.

I visited this last week with my 11 year old son, a family friend, and her three daughters. I liked that it was free to go into but since we visited on a week day, none of the buildings (other than the hotel and ice cream/candy shop) were open to view so we had to be content with trying to... This living history museum isn't extravagant or sophisticated but it gives a realistic picture of San Jose's past. The different cultures of immigration are represented and give an unusual flavor to the park. A great outing for families who want to explore history together.

We went History museum because there was a concert event. Between sessions, we strolled around and relived old San Jose. Park setting is actually interesting for a one time look and see.

This is a wonderful outdoor museum. A number of homes and businesses from the 1800's have been moved to this location and it is set up like a small town. There is a Trolley barn that houses a variety of antique autos and trolley's that have been carefully restored. The Trolley's run on the weekends and riding is free. There... More

Although San Jose had not truly preserved and honored its past, this museum contains many interesting and significant exhibits. One can see the office of A. P. Giannini, the founder of the Bank of Italy, now the Bank of America, artifacts from the earliest days of radio and canning, old buildings and much more.

Went there during Halloween time - was really fun for small kids. It's hard to find anything similar to this place in the Bay Area.
