A bit eclectic but definitely worth a visit especially at night during Fall/Halloween (flashlight tour). During the rest of the year, try to go on non-weekend days to avoid crowds. Plan 2 hours for this visit/tour. If your personal group is big enough you won't have to share the tour with others. Hopefully your guide will help you find/feel the... More

Fun tour of the home of Sara Winchester. Learned about her life from our tour guide and few other gems about the times and famous visitors.

While on a quick trip through the San Jose area, I found I had about two hours to spare. This is easy to find, centrally located, and has various tours depending on how much time you have to spare. I opted for the mansion tour (1 hour) and still had time to wander the beautiful grounds, the Winchester museum, and... More

We were very happy to have the extra time to visit the Winchester family Mystery House. We had to wait a short while for our tour to start, but it was a group of about 12 or so people. The house was very interesting, with strange doors and stairs that lead to nowhere! Our guide told us that the widow... More

Had high expectations for the house. Our tour guide was very much reciting a script. Very much going through the motions. It may be the 10th tone you've said it today, but it's our first time to hear it. The tour was very agnostic, citing the known facts. But a lot was left unexplained about Mrs. Winchester's life, and life... More

If you put yourself in the mind of a tiny woman with advanced arthritis and more money than you could ever spend, much of this place makes more sense. I wish we could have started the tour out in front of the house, it is gorgeous and we did not get to see it until the end, after the tour.

The house itself was beautiful, strange, Grand, unique and indeed a bit mysterious! I found the admission just a tad expensive. The tour took us about an hour and the guide told the story as needed. Lot's of details about the quirky life of the lady of the house together with some ghostly stories about spirits wandering around the house.... More

This is a fascinating building. The house has many beautiful features, including a number of stained glass (many Tiffany) windows. The gardens are also lovely. And of course there are the bizarre and unsettling features that were added in 38 years of continuous construction - doors open onto walls or 8 foot drops, stairs into the ceiling, windows in the... I first came to the Winchester House many years ago as a kid. Then there were fields around it. Now it is in a built up area. I visited it again several years ago. However my wife had never been there. She has an interest in old Victorian houses so we went in April 2017. We took the house tour.... More
