Nice place to hike, bike ride, picnic or play, but unfortunately San Jose's oldest park is showing its age. It was in dire need of maintenance even before the big storms of 2016/17 and more so now.

Alum Rock Park is a fun place to visit. Located in the foothills, it has many places to visit. Also good for hiking. The Nature Center is a good place to take young (and not so young) children.

I was looking forward to having a quick stroll in the park but the roads through the park area were inexplicably closed and so I just had a walk around the lower edges of the park. Next time I'll leave more time to hike up.

Regular spot for a hike / walk. Interesting nature center with some owls to visit, maybe a stuffed bobcat or two.

I agree with the other answers about walking along the road but more areas for stroller are paved at the furthest parking lot. So depending on how far you want to hike and the time of year also makes a difference if you want... More
