I was looking forward to having a quick stroll in the park but the roads through the park area were inexplicably closed and so I just had a walk around the lower edges of the park. Next time I'll leave more time to hike up.

This is a lovely park for a couple of hours or an afternoon. The paths are nicely maintained, and easy to follow. We wandered among the trees along the creek, past the Youth Science Institute, and discovered some of the stone grottos where natural springs...More

Hiking trails for all ability levels. My favorite hike is the Boccardo Trail that takes you to the top of the mountain. It takes about 2 hours round trip, but you get a real good work out. Alum Rock Park is a great place to...More

The front end of the park has the remains of the old public bath house, the hot springs and waters that supplied it are further in the park, and the hillsides get very steep very fast. so one can select the difficulty of ones hike.

Alum Rock Park used to be some kind of big time attraction - 100 years ago. Now it's a park in the San Jose foothills that is typically quite hot and dusty. Nice playground in the park, but it gets really crowded on the weekends....More

Plenty of long trails to choose from. Mostly dirt though, so don't wear your fancier kicks. Many parking lots placed at different places of the park...some free, some you have to pay. Pretty much no cellular service at most areas, so you won't be able...More

I agree with the other answers about walking along the road but more areas for stroller are paved at the furthest parking lot. So depending on how far you want to hike and the time of year also makes a difference if you want... More
