This section is in the same courtyard as the mission so it is easy to access. The day I visited it was packed with school groups and looked like and awesome field trip. I enjoyed this whole town as well as this special section as it was like stepping into an old Western. The tour guide were busy with the... More

The buildings have been preserved in much the original condition. The Adobes are well cared for, and the houses and buildings on the square have been restored to as much former glory as possible. And of course one of the best preserved missions in the state.

Surprisingly comprehensive. The museum is well worthwhile for understanding what life was like in the 1800's and before.

While recovering from jet lag I was taken here. It was like stepping into a Cowboy movie. A beautiful little town with nice shops. The old hotel was where James Stewart stared in Vertigo. It was extremely hot here so a very light top may be useful if you are new to USA.

Take your time walking through the flowered grounds, inside mission buildings and church. Take your camera; every spot is excellent for photographing. Go out the opposite side of the mission church to see the cemetery, and view the fields that are currently being farmed. Old meets new. Look for the old dated trough. Check ahead to inquire if there will... More

The Historic Park is filled with items that are reminiscent of the active era od the Mission. The Livery Stable is filled with Buggies and carriages of the days before cars. They are well preserved and nicely displayed. The signs provide a lot of information, so it is easy to do a self guided tour of the park.

There is just no place else that has such a gorgeous setting. Then, the well-preserved and well-furnished historic buildings give you an enchanting sense that you have gone back to the 1840s. One building houses the most complete collection of wagons, carriages, and other horse-drawn vehicles than I have seen anywhere else. However, docents are few and far between, so... More

The historic park includes tours of several heritage buildings on the square facing the Mission including a settler's cabin, the old hotel, the stable, the little jail, and a couple of homes. I particularly enjoyed visiting the hotel, and the Breem house. Interpretive signs told interesting stories of the area, the people who settled and built it, a notorious bandido,... More
