Check the website for what the they have for the kids. The night we went they had city works night for the kids to check out all the city trucks and tractors and how they work. Really nice to include kids in. Lots of food and locals selling things they have made. Just have to find parking and your in.

Definitely come to the farmers market downtown if you are there on a Thursday evening. Good food stands with barbecue, roasted corn, churros, poke, etc. Plus if that does not suit, the restaurants are right there for a bite or a beer.

Yes, the weekly event in SLO is a farmers market with a large selection of fresh, local produce and it is also a weekly street party. There is music, entertainment and all types of food are for sale. Many order food from the varied vendors and sit on the curb to eat. It is an event not to be missed!

We arrived in downtown San Luis Obispo for a short trip and were pleased to realize that our trip began on a Thursday...just in time for the weekly Farmers' Market! The market features a good number of booths, filling up both sides of Higuera Street in downtown for 4-5 blocks, in addition to booths on adjacent streets. A highlight of the visit was being able to see a wide variety of vendors and products on sale—everything from produce and home goods to cheap dinners and sweet treats.

Beyond browsing the booths, we purchased strawberries, apricots, peaches, and nectarines from several vendors in total. Several pounds worth of fruit came to be less than $12, which was quite a steal compared to prices in the Bay Area, where we're from. Note that many of the vendors, at least the ones we saw, only accept cash (or EBT), so it might be wise to not rely entirely on a credit card.

From a COVID-19 perspective, many of the vendors wore masks, and signs throughout the market reminded unvaccinated visitors to wear masks. It is quite crowded and there will be close interactions with other visitors, but we felt safe overall. There was even a free, instant vaccine clinic the night we visited. Pets, other than service dogs, are not allowed.

The food market was a short walk from where we’re staying and it proved invaluable when we were exhausted after a long day or touring, we could pop here for some food, shopping, restaurants or the cinema. We spent many an evening here and loved it. The food wasn’t cheap like street food should be but you can get whatever you desire. We did a great tasting in the olive oil shop and the peanut butter stall was amazing. I’d highly recommend a visit to this place if you are staying close to it. The cheese toastie from the cheese market was A-MAZ-ING but at $10 for a sandwich again not cheap, but no food was in the area.

No close parking for disabled & way too crowded for wheelchair bound people. Unfriendly able bodied people when asked politely to make some room to navigate crowd. On the plus side lots of variatious things to purchase.

Great food at the market, we drove from San Francisco to San Louis Knowing we would be there on Thursday evening. We didn’t know what to expect, we stayed just down the road and walk in. We had the best Beef ribs I’ve had in the USA. And we had been to Texas just before. It was cheap too. Really nice Strawberries as well. I would recommend staying there over night, on a Thursday night.

They have the best food to eat, but I go to buy veggies & flowers. I enjoy listening to entertainment while shopping.
It’s a great place to take family when they come to visit. A BIG WARNING—-PARKING IS DIFFICULT.
