Must do if you buy a tour.

Showed the movie on an IMAX screen. Interesting and informative. Nice way to relax for 40 minutes after a castle tour. I just wish the movie had been a little more personal so we could have gotten to know Mr. Hearst better and showed more of the details of building the castle. What an extraordinary man.

This theater was especially built to show the film about Randolph Hearst and his building of his castle. It's a beautiful theater with tiered seats so everyone has a great view. HUGE screen as well. The movie is included with any tour you purchase.

The theater is spacious and comfortable. The IMAX screen is huge. I would suggest that you see the movie before you go on the tours. The Visitor Center opens at 8AM the the first movie 8:15AM. The movie shows every 45 minutes. We went to the 9AM show on a weekend and their were only about 20 people. It gives... More

The film is interesting, where you're able to learn more about William Hearst and the story behind his castle. Admission for the film is paid with your tour ticket, so do not miss the opportunity to watch this.

Don't skip the movie! It takes about 45 minutes but is well worth your time. Go before your tour(s) if you can. An outstanding presentation that left us wanting more...

We enjoyed the iMAX film at the Hearst Castle Theater in the visitors center at the Hearst Castle. It was presented on a massive screen with great sound. The story of the life of W.R. Hearst and his many endeavors, in particular the creation of the Hearst Castle in his latter years, was a very interesting bit of little-known American... More

This film was spectacular and definitely had the National Geographic "stamp" on it. I must say that I was a little apprehensive about taking my mother (who had recently experienced some vertigo) in view of other reviews that commented on problems with motion sickness. I found this to be way overblown. I highly recommend seeing it before the visit. My... More

This was a very good movie to either start or end the tour of Hearst Castle. I had to close my eyes a few times since the sensation of motion was too much for me. My husband had no problems with it.

We enjoyed seeing the movie "Hearst Castle - Building the Dream" on Hearst Castle. . It is shown on a 5 - story movie screen. We in particular liked the vintage clips and stills from the 1920's and 1930;s that are included in the movie. We enjoyed it and highly recommend seeing it if one is visiting Hearst Castle and...
