Great place for kids and adults both. We had a blast looking for moonstones and jade. We found both but jade is definitely more prevalent than the moonstones.

We visited late on a cloudy day, hoping to view sunset. The initial misty views of the rugged, rocky shoreline were almost mystical at low tide. We enjoyed seeing the local dogs romp on the wide beach. We were then rewarded with a stunning sunset!

Moonstone Beach has beautiful views and the tide pools are full of hermit crabs, sea anemone and barnacles. We must be careful with our footing to avoid stepping on live animals. We could not see any harbor seals in the Point Lobos Natural Preserve but...More

Nice boardwalk to over look the beach and leave the flora, fauna and animals undisturbed. And as I said, I was surprised to see seals hanging out on the rocks.

Visited on 9/20/2018 (Thursday): Moonstone Beach is a unique beach, one like I've never seen before. There are little stones when the water recedes, and you can even find these white/transparent stones called Moonstones. There are also a ton of other cool looking stones that...More

The beach is beautiful but if you think there are rocks of all colors your really have to spend time to find them. A ton of drift wood. Hit or miss, there are better beaches.

Short stop close to the pacific coast highway. Cool place with natural round, polished stones. Worth a stop.

I would guess that Bruce is probably correct. I actually quit hunting the stones quite some time ago and go down now just to be at water's edge where I have enjoyed this area for so long. Have fun.

I've never seen glass stones on the beach, but I've seen round tumbled-type stones at the very most north end. Follow the boardwalk north, it will end very close to a cement boat ramp. At the bottom of the boat ramp, you can... More

I don't think you'd want to do that at right at Moonstone Beach. There is pretty high currents and undertow around the very rocky shoreline. Go a couple miles north to the beach located right by the Cavalier hotel. They... More
