Visitors and locals alike should visit the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. It is a working courthouse that offers free tours every day at 10:30 and 2:00 pm. The architecture is beautiful and the tower offers the best views in town.

Mural room has recently been restored. Guided tours, twice a day, if you wish or just wander around . Spectacular view of the city, ocean and mountains from the clock tower. And it is all free.

We had read that the Santa Barbara courthouse was something worth seeing. We stopped there and we were impressed with the Spanish architecture. You can go to the top tower and take in the city, mountain, and ocean views.

Worth going in and checking unbelievable ceiling of court room. Then going to the top and catching the panoramic view of the city. A must see.

I can't remember for sure, but since it is a public building in use every day as a courthouse I am pretty sure it opens at least by 9 am.
