Stopped here not knowing what to expect. Very glad we did. Very interesting architecture. Be sure to go to the observation deck for the spectacular views. On the walk down you get to see the Seth Thomas clockworks that run the clock on the clock tower. Saw the Mural Room where the Supervisors meet. What a room! Highly recommended!

Great recommendation from our hotel. The view over Santa Barbara and surrounding areas from the top of the bell tower (free to access) is fantastic and you can see the clock mechanism from the staircase. The building and grounds are in a quiet part of the town with no sense of touristy rush. You are able to walk though the... More

I recently performed the wedding ceremony for some dear friends in their Mural Room and the entire experience was wonderful.

Don't just go up in the tower to see the great view… Walk around the building and be amazed that this gorgeous, ancient – type mosaic – covered monolith is actually a currently – functioning court house. We couldn't believe it! Makes me want to be a lawyer in Santa Barbara.

We're on our way to Northern California by way of US 101 and happen to pass by Santa Barbara around noon time. After having lunch at the Stearns Wharf, we headed to check out the SB County Courthouse for a brief visit before again heading out north. Being inside this courthouse is like stepping back in time. The architecture is... More

Don't miss a visit to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse - you'll be greeted with a cool, Spanish-style tiled interior that draws you up the stairway to the clock tower. On the second level is the Mural Room depicting Santa Barbara's history, this room serves as a courtroom but can also be hired out for events such as weddings. Further... More

Worth a visit for the history of the area. We missed the free tours but were able to tour on our own. Beautiful architecture which lends to the Spanish history of California. A nice 360o view from the tower.

I'm not sure what we were expecting while visiting the courthouse, but with it being #1 on the to do list, I think we were expecting a more 'Wow' factor. We didn't do the tour, but from what we saw we were glad we weren't committed to a tour. I wouldn't say don't go, because there were some beautiful wall... More
