About
This zoo with a view was once a posh estate owned by a coffee and tea merchant; now it's the lush domain of more than 500 animals representing 160 species. The pink stucco mansion that once presided over manicured lawns and gardens is gone—replaced...more

Visited here with my family. Fantastic place for small children as it has great play areas as well as the added bonus of zoo animals. We went with my Teenager and 20 year old Daughter and was able to walk around it within 2 hours....More

Always good spending time with the animals. The Santa Barbara Zoo is small and easy to navigate. The giraffes were the highlight.

My daughter and I enjoyed looking at all the displays, and even fed the giraffes. To see the joy in the kids' faces is warming. The meerkat was a hit for us, and the pink flamingos. We parked outside the regular zoo parking, thus saved...More

The zoo overall is amazing, but the zoo camp is spectacular! We have been a few times for the camp and don't visit California with out a trip to the zoo!

You can’t go wrong with Santa Barbara’s beautiful weather and ocean views, but this is a small zoo, and it seemed overpriced for the amount of time you can actually spend there. Be prepared to pay $8 for parking!

I didn't even know that Santa Barbara had a zoo but I'm glad I found out about it! This zoo is the perfect place to walk and see animals! This zoo is small and intimate compared to your large zoos in Los Angeles and San...More

Thanks, Glena! If you're interested, our Instagram account is especially popular. Please check out our North American porcupine, Bam Bam, as she walks about the Zoo on a harness and leash.

Santa Barbara Zoo has over a hundred species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects even though it is a relatively small zoo when compared to others that I've been to. The nice thing about its size is that it makes the walk around the zoo...More

Extraordinary zoo for a town of this size. Ideslly suited for families with small children. The local custom is to come with a picknick basjet and blanket and hang out on the hill after checking out the wild ones. Easily a virtually all day visit....More

Thanks for the great review, David! We look forward to your next visit. You might want to take the train to SB station and then the Waterfront Shuttle from there.

We have six year old triplets. This is a perfect sized zoo for them. Not too big so that we have to trek for hours to see animals. Not too small that the kids would get bored easily. We spent three hours here. We attended...More

Thanks, Linh! We'll let the dinosaurs know that you enjoyed the show. The puppets were produced by Chiodo Brothers, a leading FX company in Los Angeles, and built by the gentleman who used to run Jim Henson's creature workshop.

I had my small grandchildren with me in Santa Barbara so this zoo was a treat. It is nicely done, clean and had the beautiful California coast weather to help us enjoy our break from the South Texas heat.
