Wide sidewalks and a good mix of chain stores and local retailers. A couple of sections have a concentration of local wine tasting rooms.

Went for a walk on State Street... Had a blast! The weather was beautiful... Found an antique shop along the way and an awesome coffee shop!

Really an iconic Santa Barbara street. You can find parking lots about a block off of the streets. You'll find everything from Nordstrom to small shops, cafe's to nightclubs. The architecture is beautiful. There are some homeless people and it's sad to see. But you'll find that in every California beach community. State Street is pretty gentrified as is most... More

You see all kinds on State Street. We were there during the film festival so it was very crowded at the theaters but even on a rainy day there is plenty of places to go and people to see. Benches are available up and down the street. Chain stores (Macy's, Marshall's), stores dedicated to socks, restaurants, ice cream....I could go... More

It is the main part of the city. Shops and winery and resturants are there. you should be able to find shops from Macy's to ice cream there.

State St is deceptively uphill and it is quite a hike if you want to go all the way up to the Mission. Going back down is much easier. We started at Stearns Wharf and frankly the first bit before and after going under H101 is rather seedy with tattoo parlours with some very tired looking and not very nice... More

I'm not sure how to explain State Street as an attraction, because it's a street, but it has a lot of restaurants and attractions on it. I guess that's what it is. A cool street with lots of good little things on it. If you're in Santa Barbara, then spend some time there.
