This road let’s Santa Barbara down, closed shops, shops full of cheap tat and a shabby dirty feel about it however there are some nice shops and cafes etc in amongst it all.

The main drag of Santa Barbara [other than the beach]. Lots of shopping, food and eye candy. Loved the pianos on the corners where people just randomly sit down and play.

I've been coming to Santa Barbara for a gazillion years and I've seen State Street decline over the last few years. I've never seen so many empty storefronts. And the quality of the stores have changed... generally for the worse. The unfortunate departure of Macys...More

Well known for a variety of interesting shops, State St. offers a bevy of excellent restaurants as well as being conveniently located relatively near the Santa Barbara Harbor and Stearns Wharf. Enjoy strolling along State St- especially on an overcast non- beach day.

After lunch we went for a walk along state street to ensure our marguerita was gone. This street is quaint with all kinds of places to check out.

Really atmospheric and varied high street running down to the beach. You could easily spend a weekend browsing, wining, dining and listening to live music. We cycled our way around which was really fun too.

Best bet would be to take a hop-on, hop-off trolley. Direct, not from the ship, most ship trolley tours are none stop.
