Took a walk from our hotel to State Street and it was very pleasant. The temperature was moderate and lots of people were out walking, jogging and bike riding. Saw some homeless but they were not disturbing anyone. Several artists were setting up tents to...More
Don't miss Shoreline Park when in Santa Barbara! Park along the street, on the wharf, or in one of the reasonably-priced parking lots, and walk along the sidewalks. Or take your shoes off and walk through the grass or along the beach. Friendly atmosphere--there are...More
Be sure to find your way to Shoreline Park along Shoreline Drive and LaMarina Drive in Santa Barbara. The views of the Pacific Ocean are especially lovely at sunset. Shoreline Park is great to walk through at any time of the day.
Shoreline park is one of the most beautiful anywhere. It sits on the bluff above the Pacific Ocean with a playground for small children, picnic tables for couples and families, steps to the beach and a look over the surfers on the Eastern bluff.
Gorgeous weather, a great bike path though a well maintained park along a beautiful beach. Spend time here and unwind. People watch, exercise or soak up the sun. A quintessential Santa Barbara experience

Yes, there are a many places for just such an activity. Shoreline is a little louder and more of a picnic feel than other beach spots. So Shoreline is good if you want a place to BBQ and have a "party" kind of memorial service. If you want it more quiet and simply beach focused, the beaches a East Beach are wider longer, and easier to find privacy. If you want real seclusion (where I often see small private beach weddings the South end of Summerland Beach is really secluded and private, but harder to carry stuff down the hill. Lots of options.
I wish I knew the answer to that question. I have been there a few times and will go again as my family lives in that area I have always felt that it was just plain luck to see them but if I find out I will post it.
