Noticed the museum was open as we were driving past. We turned around to go and see it and were very pleasantly surprised. It is well laid out, the exhibits are clean, well-labeled and coherent. Spent a very pleasant 45 minutes here.

All of the other reviews are right. This is a superb small museum, the staff is great and the exhibits frequently change. Apparently the schools all know it because a lot of teachers bring their classes here, even from as far away as San Jose....More

This museum has old fashioned exhibits of wildlife from the Santa Cruz area. There is a nice small gift shop and activities for young children.

While hidden, this does have a huge whale at the entrance. There are numerous exhibits with natural wildlife and local facts. Highly encourage for families and children to see nature preserved.

Every year this place is the highlight of school age children to connect to nature and environment. How food were gathered, the type of living, and their co-existing with nature.

Although primarily for children, this small museum has some very interesting exhibits. Easily done in about 1/2 hour.

You'll need the best part of 3 hours to get around the whole museum but it's so worth it! The room with the mummified Guanche is eerily quiet but extremely interesting. It has everything from the formation on the island to the bugs that reside...More

Small breaks from the beach and the crowds... This small museum is an excellent stop with the kids. Filled with local animals you may have a chance to encounter.

Super! Especially if you're a Cali native and your kids are into the fauna. It was perfect for the kids to see real life animals (stuffed/taxiderm-ied) that we live with but rarely see up close and personal. Inexpensive & well worth the time!

Beautiful and quirky little museum on East Cliff. I'm a natural history aficionado, so its one of my Santa Cruz favorites.
