Our boys loved jumping in the Pacific Ocean - but boy was it cold! The beach is big, sandy and reasonably clean, although lots of seaweed has washed up on one side of the warf. There are manned lifeguard towers about every 200m and we...More

Parking is reasonable at $10/day. It's very busy no matter the day, so be prepared. Cool shopping with unique gift items. On Mon and Tuesday board walk rides and food are cheap! Rides are fun. Waves are ok, but cold water usually, so be prepared.

When I come to Santa Cruz I usually have a bit of stress to shed. What better way than to start at either the board walk or the other side of the bay where the river meets the sea, and just start walking. that sand...More

If you are looking for a romantic beach, perhaps a nice walk along the beach, build a sandcastle type beach, this isn’t for you. This is a tourist place galore. It was also the reason we were there. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk is world famous...More

This is a very busy, tacky, touristy beach which for me had no appeal what so ever to spend a day on it doing beach activities. We'd traveled the entire length of the west coast America over a 28 day road trip and for me...More

This touristic beach has many of the elements that a tourist family might love. There are public restrooms and showers. There are public volley ball courts. There is a historic amusement boardwalk. There are a few life guards. Music boom boxes are under control/seem non...More

It tends to be overcast until about noon, but quickly burns off. It's also usually breezy; the beach itself is usually pretty cold in June, but the people watching, volleyball, rides, wharf, and restaurants all make this beach a great experience!

I live right above the boardwalk and usually take a blanket down in the morning and set up on the sand right outside of the limit ropes as do many locals or you can wait until 4:30 and go into the concert area to set up... More
