Highly recommended before or after visiting the redwood trail just next door. It's set up like an old west town and there are a few fun things you can do while waiting for your train: panning for gold, visit the gift shop, picnic area, pond....More

We bought our tickets ahead before leaving for California. We thought we had allowed enough time to travel from Oakland but did not count on traffic problems at 10:30 am on route 17. Took us about an hour to travel 10 miles. Made it to...More

Is it possible to take both trains on the one day? I was thinking of taking the beach train from Santa Cruz to Felton, then the Steam train from Felton to Bear Mountain. Then the stream train from Bear mountain back to Felton and then the beach train from Felton back to Santa Cruz. Please let me know. Thank you.

I checked with my sources and found that you could ride both in the same day if you start in Felton first, ride the Bear Mt loop and then ride to Santa Cruz and back to Felton. These trains each have a different vibe.
What are the times the train leaves and are the open cars available in December?

we went in the spring and did not buy tickets in advance. we did get there an hour before the train left but there is plenty to see while waiting. there was still room left and we , 4 of us, had the car to ourselves.
