This is a stand alone great attraction for train enthusiasts. We usually take tourists to the Henry Cowell State Park for the redwood tree loop walk, and then walk next door to look at the train.

A lovely way to see the local woodlands. The scenery is stunning and the small village takes you back 100 years in time.

I checked with my sources and found that you could ride both in the same day if you start in Felton first, ride the Bear Mt loop and then ride to Santa Cruz and back to Felton. These trains each have a different vibe.

we went in the spring and did not buy tickets in advance. we did get there an hour before the train left but there is plenty to see while waiting. there was still room left and we , 4 of us, had the car to ourselves.
