Our afternoon started with our small group of 12 people meeting in downtown Santa Cruz. We heard a brief history of the old Santa Cruz Bank building, then a short walk across the street to Laili Restaurant, serving Afghani food, for a delicious small plate of a butternut squash dish and lovely salad of baby greens, then another short walk... We took out of town guests on this tour. Be prepared to walk, but it is a good thing because you eat ALOT on this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We learned alot about the history of the city and its architecture. By the time we got to the last stop (olive oil and balsamic vinegar) I could... More

Went on the downtown tour with my husband. It was a wonderful experience. Great restaurants, terrific history, and beautiful architecture. My idea of a perfect afternoon. The success of the tour was all due to our guide. Brian is a pro and knows everything there is to know about Santa Cruz. He was warm, friendly, and never made us feel... More

My husband and I have been wanting to go on this tour for years. We finally went on a beautiful August Friday afternoon. Our guide was Brian and he was a gem. He took us on a walk through parts of Santa Cruz I have never seen...the old historic places where tourists never go. It was so relaxing and informative.... More

Good food, good history; but walking tour needs to be longer. I felt I was being left behind--TOO rushed. Needed to be at the next site in 10 minutes. What? I just sat down! Oh well, have to move on. NEXT!!!

Would have been 5 stars but felt a little rushed going from place to place. Restaurants were good, history was fine but guide (no names) was always checking his watch and 10 paces in front of our group. Maybe tour needs to be longer.

If you are a foodie, this is for you. My houseguests and I did this tour and we were each delightfully surprised with the restaurant selection and, shockingly, portion size! Another delightful surprise was Brian's knowledge of Santa Cruz. As a local, even I learned something about the architecture of Downtown, which included some poignent facts about the 1989 Earthquake,... More

We stopped at 6 restaurants and were very happy with the different foods we experienced. I expected the tour to progress from starter items to desert but that was not the case. Had ice cream at the 3rd stop rather than at the end but no big deal. There was plenty of sweets and drinks and other foods that we... More

I booked this tour because I'm a foodie and love to eat.....I was pleasantly surprised that Brian gave us so much historical information about the area, the homes, the people, etc. He also adjusted to the tour based on our group's interest. For example, a couple of times when people on the tour mentioned a home, or other detail, he'd... More

Really expected a restaurant hopping afternoon - and it was that but much, much more. Our tour guide was Brian. Turns out he and his wife are the owners. Brian is both knowledgeable and gregarious which is a perfect combination! Tour goes to 6 restaurant stops, offering a broad selection of foods - from starters to main courses ( tho... More
