Established in 1980, Schug Carneros Estate Winery produces wines nuanced with tradition and elegance, led by the vision of Axel Schug and Sonoma born winemaker Michael Cox. The winery was established to produce graceful and elegant Pinot Noirs from Sonoma's celebrated hills of Carneros. This is a nice little winery off the main road. The wines are not for sweet wine lovers but the views are incredible and the staff was wonderful and super friendly. The staff made this such a fun experience. We also got complementary tasting coupons from the visitor center. Tastings are usually $10 which is much cheaper than most other... More

I was recently on a business trip and had some time to kill. I went to Shug having tasted their wines at a restaurant but had not been to winery. They are located way off the road at the intersection of 121/12/116. Coming from SF turn left at intersection. Great wines, great prices and a GREAT tasting team. My biggest... More

We enjoyed the self-walking tour of this vineyard. They provided us with information and we signed a disclaimer and then we went off to explore. We didn't buy anything but that wasn't a problem and there was certainly no pressure to do so. It was nice to read a little information on the grapes and walk through the vines. The... More

All good things come to an end and the Schug winery was the last stop on our itinerary for the day. We were running late and we did not think that we would make it. We had selected this site because we had heard that their Pinot Noir was a must to try. We hurried in and found that their... More

We highly recommend this vineyard and winery tour. Jennifer took us through and was quite knowledgeable and personable. We were treated to a low key exchange of information that left us richer for the experience. Jennifer's personal tasting, coupled with fantastic cheeses and bread, set at a table in the wine barrel caves, was outstanding. When you are mature enough... More

Visited for a wine tasting on August 24th. Although Schug is small in comparison to other wineries in the region, they produce wonderful wines, specializing in Pinot Noirs. We tasted 5 wines for $10.00(waived if you buy 2 bottles). I especially enjoyed the 2011 Heritage Reserve Pinot Noir. Beautiful hillside views of the vineyards. Definitely worth stopping in for a... Got there an early Friday afternoon, lunched in the yard with an excellent wine, went to the tasting room, tasted some even more excellent and bought some of the best! Go there now!

Worth making your way off the main streets to visit this place. Their pinot is excellent and it was even better to drink a glass outside with live music. **Keep in mind they don't have space for parties larger than 5 unless you pre-book.**

We went to the Schug Carneros Vineyard especially because we had read that on Saturdays in the spring and summer, they host live music from 12 noon to 4pm in their courtyard bar area. It was a gorgeous sunny day with a balmy breeze so a perfect day to chill out with a glass of wine and listen to some... More
