I was expecting to see more but the views from the road limit the sightline to actually see the train entering or leaving the tunnel. Actually saw more from interstate but there is no pullout to view the trains. Maybe I was spoiled by one...More

Several years ago, my husband and I camped along the tracks at the Tehachapi Loop - it was GREAT! Freight trains all night long - best birthday in a while. Now we stop by on the way to Olancha, CA, for Thanksgiving with the family.

I am a motorcycle rider and whenever I am taking someone new out on the back of my bike I like taking them on this road to see how well they manage in the turns. It is a short ride, and I would rather be...More

An engineering feat that has withstood more than a century. We were lucky enough to arrive just as a train was approaching. Watching & then reading the history on the plaque was so interesting.

My house actually is directly located above the loop. I can see it from my balcony. It's beautiful. When we heard there was a plaque and small hike to see it closer, we were in! What a difference it is up close. The plaque was...More

Even if you are not a real train buff this is a must see in the area. It's incredibly that in the late 1800's, and trying to figure out how to get these heavy trains through that this idea was hatched. The train winds around...More

After driving this way and that through beautiful scenery came to a great observation point. Got situated in some lawn chairs and didn't have to wait long for the first train to come through and marvel us with the great engineering feet of the loop.

We were there 3 minutes before a train came through. Heard to explain what it is but seeing the train makes it all crystal clear!

You can't visit Tehachapi without going out to the "Loop". There is an overlook that gives you a broad overview of this unusual train track design, but it's really only a wide spot in the small two lane road with limited parking and viewing space....More

When I was a kid in the Cub Scouts, a very long time ago, the troop was treated to ride through the loop in a passenger train, see, I told you it was a long time ago. I still remember that trip. I suppose we...More

For all the reviewers that saw the train can you let us know what time where you there. There's a quite of people that saw the train so it will be a very helpful data if you can let us know the different times you saw the trains. I have a 3 kids with means it's not safe to wait there for 30 or more minutes because the road is very steep and dry narrow. Hoping your your kind response.

Hello there That is a very good question to ask. If my memory is correct they are on the hour. The one we saw was a long freight train so you get a chance to see it. The other place you can see trains in a more comfortable... More

The Tehatchapee Loop is a railroad feature and not a hotel. So, no meals except for those you pack in your car.
