We needed to get a room as soon as possible because it was getting dark and all the motels had no vacancies. Our 4G wasn’t working and so we stopped here at the Humboldt Lagoons State Park and miraculously, we got a signal. We were...More

Humboldt Lagoons State Park includes Freshwater Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, and Big Lagoon. It also includes Dry Lagoon which is just marshland today. The lagoons are beautiful and a peaceful place to enjoy the water, go kayaking, head to the beach, etc.

My hubby and I rented kayaks from visitor center. Super friendly and helpful. We kayaked across lagoon to beach. Take water and snacks to enjoy on beach.

If you are in this area, make sure you stop at the Stone Lagoon Red Schoolhouse area off Redwood Trails Lane. We were stopped by a herd of elks leisurely strolling in front of our car on the highway. Quite a sight to see.

We parked and walked straight to the ocean. The sky was blue and the waves were crashing in. The beach invites you to just sit a spell and take in the sounds of the great Pacific Ocean. If you have an hour or two be...More

We rented kayaks at Kayak Zak's for the day. The lagoon is large and there are many opportunities for wildlife viewing - we saw many seabirds and a playful otter. If you paddle to the sand spit that separates the lagoon from the ocean, you...More
