The docent was so friendly, and funny. He genuinely enjoyed being there and educating others. And he really knew his stuff! The history is fun to know, but it wasn't jaw dropping. Its a great stop with kids. You can snap a picture "behind bars"....More

Wasn't expecting much, just looking for somewhere to meet another party. If you are driving, you will find a free lot a bit further down the street. Free is good, because anywhere else in Truckee you have to pay to park. Nice explanation and history...More

Interesting historical aspects of this old railroad town, rehabbed over the years, town very touristy with great restaurants and lots of shops to browse, and of course drink yourself silly.

This is a cute little jail. The docents were fun and enjoyed giving tours. We were there over Memorial Day weekend and there were quite a few visitors. Good stories, artifacts and photos.

If you're interested in history, the Old Jail is a must-see. Knowing that Truckee was a rambunctious town in its hey day and the freezing temperatures we're so accustomed to experiencing, the jail really gives you some insight into how rough the conditions were for...More

It is just off the main street...and if it were open, would be interesting to see!! Perhaps they could establish some regular hours and post it on the door.
