Cute little Museum

Stopped in here after a ride on the Skunk Train and it was a nice little museum. A lot of early military and native american pieces.

...but the museum store was great! The lovely lady working the front desk was a wealth of information and really has a heart for her work. There were other things to do right there - the park across the street, the steam engines next door - and everyone in our party was surprised at how much time we ended up... More

The Mendocino County Museum is a nice way to spend an hour or two reminiscing about days gone by. The museum has an eclectic collection that shares diverse elements of local history. A new section informs us of local Native American inhabitants and the way they lived. There is an old drug store counter, complete with soda fountain. The more... More

This museum has native American artifacts and a park across the street that has live music during the summer! Definitely a great spot for some history and meeting locals!

Has a great history of Mendocino. The displays are well done and there is plenty of information. They have information concerning the whole state of California. The display concerning the civil war was very enlighting. I never knew American settlers enslaved Indian children in anticipation of California being a slave state. Wish it had more about Willits. I would really... More

I was able to attend for my first time, in 2014, the Kinetic Carnivale sponsored by the Mendocino County Museum. What fun, proceeds benefit the museum. All the sights, sounds, foods, education, and vendors and more. It was worth every bit of the 2 day visit. Handcar races, Steam Operated Logging Equipment, Steam Engines, Steam Locomotives, and Steam Punks. Different... More

We happened to tour on a free day. They had the Native American info, the local Willits historical info, Seabiscuit info, and are featuring the Civil War exhibit along with the trains that ran thru the area. Well done!
